Current Patient Needsby Lauren Bailey
The need for blood is constant, with a huge variety of cases requiring blood as part of their treatment each and every day. This week in particular, CBCC has been informed of a plasma exchange patient in Greensboro in desperate need of 10-11 units of A-type plasma. Plasma is donated as part of a whole blood donation, or in conjunction with a platelet donation and is critical for these types of patients.
We also have two ECMO babies in Charlotte requiring large amounts of fresh O-type CMV-negative red cell units. These can be donated as part of a whole blood donation, or as a double red cell donation. If you can help any of these patients, we ask that you come to one of our centers or mobile drives as soon as possible.
Thank you for saving local lives!
