CBCC and Carowinds team up for KidsFest blood driveby CBCC
CBCC is gearing up to join Carowinds’ annual KidsFest once again this summer, and we’re encouraging adults to get in on the weekend’s festivities too!
In addition to our kid-friendly activities throughout the two-day event, we will also bring three Bloodmobiles to the park July 21 to collect lifesaving blood donations for local patients. All presenting donors will receive a limited-edition T-shirt from CBCC as a thank you. As an added bonus, Carowinds will give the first 100 presenting donors a free admission ticket to the park!
Carowinds is committed to giving back to the community, so adding a blood drive to KidsFest seemed like a logical step for the event’s third year, Carowinds’ Communications Director Lisa Stryker said.
“KidsFest is about having fun, and we’re glad to add elements that educate and help shape kids into caring, responsible citizens,” Stryker said. “We’re proud to partner with CBCC as they demonstrate to our younger guests how important it is to give back to those in need, whether by sending a handmade card to a child in the hospital, or donating blood when they are old enough.”
CBCC will provide educational activities about the components of blood, answer questions about donating, and help kids create cards and crafts to be delivered to patients at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, one of more than 30 hospitals served by CBCC.
“KidsFest is an incredible opportunity for CBCC to educate local children about their blood and the vitally important act of donating it,” CBCC CEO and President Martin Grable said. “By hosting a blood drive at Carowinds during our most difficult time for collections, we are not only providing parents a quick and easy way to donate blood, but these parents are also setting an excellent example for their children by giving back to our community in this remarkably special way.”
The blood drive will be held in the Carowinds Paladium area from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21. To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 120 pounds, and present a valid, officially issued photo ID. No admission necessary to donate.
KidsFest takes place July 21-22 near the new Camp Snoopy. You can expect a weekend full of interactive games and activities designed just for kids and their families.
