Urgent need for blood as Hurricane Florence approachesby CBCC
URGENT: We need your blood or platelet donation TODAY due to the threat of Hurricane Florence.
As Hurricane Florence approaches, there remains uncertainty about the path and ramifications our area and the region will endure. It is becoming increasingly evident there will be a direct hit to the East Coast at some point this week. The inland path remains to be determined, but collections will be impacted, whether here or across the region.
What we are certain of is the blood we collect now and over the coming days is the blood we will depend on in the wake of the storm. With collections already down coming out of the Labor Day holiday week, we are counting on you to support patients during and after the storm.
We will continue to closely monitor the storm and assess the impact it may have on our region. As long as conditions remain safe, we ask that you please make and keep your donation appointment. Call 1-888-59BLOOD or go online to find a center or mobile drive near you.
Should there be any changes in our collection operations, we will communicate them to you first.
As always, thank you for your support. Your immediate help will ensure a safe and steady blood supply is available for local hospitals and their patients in advance of, during, and after the storm.
