A biopsy revealed that Gaige had Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.  Within 24 hours of diagnosis, Gaige’s tumor was surgically removed, but winning the battle would require five blood transfusions and nine chemotherapy treatments over a period of four months.
